Kejriwal should Not Try to Become Raj Thackeray Delhi’s new education minister has proposed that 90 per cent of seats in colleges fully funded by the government be reserved for students passing out of schools of Delhi. Ridiculous is an apt description for such a move. Youth 4 Democracy opposes this move. Delhi cannot be equated with other states since it is the nation’s capital. Everyone has the same rights here. We term this as a Raj Thackeray phenomenon and we would not allow this in Delhi. Steps should be taken to unite the country and not divide it on such basis. This will make Delhi parochial and inward looking. Kejriwal and his group should think of improving the standards of schooling in Delhi’s MCD schools, which is their core agenda for education. One way will be to ask all these ministers and MLAs to send their children to these schools. How can they be trusted with education department if they cannot send their children to these schools?
