Kelly Update Tuesday 5:00pm: Hey all, so as you know if youve been keeping up, Kelly was admitted to Northside Hospital Friday at 2:00am due to fever and severe headache. At that point her WBC and other stats were already down from the chemo she had several weeks prior. They told us all the time if she gets a fever of 100.5 come back to hospital. She began pain medicine and broad spectrum antibiotics friday to help with the sever headache and neck pain. By saturday morning Jane (kellys mom) noticed she wasnt 100% making sense. When I got there Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm I noticed it and it got progressively worse until early this morning. So basically from Saturday mid day to this morning which was 3 days kellys mental status was in very poor condition. She didnt know who I was and hallucinating. She was very restless and didnt sleep more than 5-10 mins at a time for those 3 days. The staff determined she had a blood infection which was causing the high fevers (sometimes up to 103) and headaches. What they didnt realize was the back to back heavy pain medicines was going to cause her to loose her mind basically. Last night through some cultures they determined she had another infection call VRE. TIME FOR SOME GOOD NEWS RIGHT: Last night she was able to sleep and 1 hour or 2 at a time until we were up at 7:30. I fed her some eggs and potatoes and she drank a good bit of water. I began asking her a bunch of questions and she was able to answer them. A little later she got a shower but soon as she was out of the shower her energy level went down to 0. The neurologist came in right after she was done with shower and she wasnt pretty much out. She slept from about 9am-11am and was the most restful sleep in 4 days. When she woke up again my mom, sister and niece came and Kelly knew who they were and even Sarahs middle name. We were able to communicate with her AND she was able to lay still through 1.5 hr MRI with me in the room. That was awful... a room that was 50 degrees with that machine that makes awful sounds for that long.... whew! Glad that is over. She had tried the MRI twice yesterday but couldnt because she would freak out soon as the machine came on. I left about 3:00 to come home today, shower and be with Taylor. Poor kid hadnt seen her dad in 2 days and her mom in 5 days. Jane is up there with her and going to stay the night. Hoping to have MRI and CT scan results tomorrow. SHES DEF NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET PRAYING: Pray that she continues to trend upwards and the test come back clear with no issues with her head. Pray the infections go away and her mental health improves. Pray she gets back to normal and the transplant can move forward. Thanks for all the love, prayers and well wishes!!!! We definitely feel them! love mark, kelly and taylor
