Keni are shallow dug wells, typically found in valley, generally unlined, surroundings protected with natural vegetation, water loving one with good fibrous type, reeds, fish tailed palm , water is clear and level is steady throughout the year, during the peak monsoon period feed the springs, while in summer small flow keep the riverlets alive, generally the water is used for domestic purpose, all other activities are banned , water must be collected and used outside it drainage system, with fall of green cover over the hills , groundwater regime has changed, their numbers with perennial sources are getting reduced..
