Kennan was oddly in his political reflection something of a traditionalist, but being a child of Puritan Scottish Presbyterians a progressive democrat in domestic matters and policy but rather skeptical over its ability to remake man and the world into paridise. He was not a liberal, and opposed liberalism in its traditional form.. and one could say that Reagans foreign policy was a traditional liberal one...... Reagan was the return of the classical iberals in terms of foreign policy.
