+ + + Kennel Cough Alert + + + We have learned through Stewart Street Vet that Kennel Cough is currently impacting many dogs in the Bathurst area. We are aware of at least 5 dogs from 3 club members households, who are presently experiencing the symptoms of Kennel Cough. Symptoms can include a harsh, dry cough, retching, sneezing, snorting, gagging or vomiting in response to light pressing of the trachea or after excitement or exercise. The presence of a fever varies from case to case. Below is a video link, you can listen to, to hear what Kennel Cough sounds like, please click on the link to start the Video If your dog has these symptoms, please do not bring them along to training, as Kennel Cough is highly contagious. Stewart Street Vet recommend the following: * Ensure Kennel Cough Vaccinations are up to date. While dogs can still contract the illness, the severity of symptoms should be lesser in Vaccinated animals. Seek treatment from a Vet if you think your dog has Kennel Cough * Do not attend class until at least two weeks after symptoms have ceased. * Don’t allow your dog to share bowls, balls or toys with other dogs. * Dont allow your dog to have close contact with other dogs * It is wise to avoid Dog Parks while Kennel Cough is active in the community. In an effort to prevent the spread of this illness, our club will for the time being not continue to supply water containers for dogs to share at training. We kindly request that members bring their own water bowls along to training, until further notice. ~ Kind Regards, Angela :) https://youtube/watch?v=uNYhIZoxijE
