Kerensa Mason is another musician currently dwelling in our sister city of Bath and it was a pleasure to invite her over for this session. Her captivating vocal works perfectly with her soft finger picking style in this song. We thought the dark tone and appearance of our Black Widow acoustic guitar suited her perfectly. Her beautifully crafted songs hide a sinister meaning and on her website she says “I use music to express a side of me I’d rather not show people visually. I write dark lyrics filled with metaphors and put happy melodies to them to mask how sinister they are, and to keep people guessing what my songs are about. If you didn’t know me very well personally, you wouldn’t be able to guess what my songs are about”. We recorded this using a small diaphragm condenser microphone to capture the guitar, along with a large diaphragm condenser microphone to capture the room ambience. The vocal was recorded using a dynamic microphone.
