Kevin Nolan was a master on the mound, pitching a 7 hit complete game, striking out 5 West Nyack players while walking none. In the bottom of the 1st John Freeman singled to centerfield and then Albie Argenio followed up with a one hop double off the 320 sign in left-center field sending Freeman to third. Chris Ruppert stepped in and singled home Freeman & then stole second base on the next pitch. With two outs & runners at second & third, Kevin Nolan delivered a sharp single to left scoring Argenio from third, putting Stony Point up 2-0. In the bottom of the third, Albie Argenio single handedly scored a run. Argenio took an eight pitch at bat singling to center. On the next pitch Argenio stole second & advanced to third on an error. In an attempt to pick Argenio off third, the West Nyack pitcher threw the ball away & Argenio scored putting Stony Point up 3-0. With one out in the bottom of the 4th, Matt Mazzella worked a walk & stole second base. Patrick Dwyer stepped in & movedMazzella to third on a ground out to first. Chris Cooney came to bat with two outs & delivered a single to centerfield, putting Stony Point up 4-0. With one out in the bottom of the 6th, Kevin Nolan walked, followed by a Cameron Price single to centerfield. With first & second Colin Kerr stepped in & hit a smash in the hole at third. The West Nyack third baseman attempted to tag Nolan advancing from second but Nolan was able to avoid the tag & the speedy Kerr was safe at first. With bases loaded & two outs, Chris Cooney stepped in & roped a 2 RBI single to right, scoring Nolan & special pinch runner Matt Mazzella from second, putting Stony Point up 6-2. Stony Point turned in a defensive gem in the top of the first when West Nyack had runners on first & second, one out & the # 4 hitter in the box. A sharp ground ball to Cooney at second & a flip to shortstop Dillon Maher streaking across 2B started off a double play, Maher then delivered a strike to Argenio at first completing the 4-6-3 DP & ending the West Nyack threat. Dillon Maher had 3 assists & two putouts at shortstop & offensively was 1-3. West Nyack had 12 base runners throughout the game & Stony Point catcher, Chris Ruppert did not allow a single passed ball or dropped third strike the entire game…incredible!! In the top of the 7th a wild play occurred; with two outs, runners at first & second, the score now 6-3 & West Nyack still threatening, a sharp ground ball was hit to Price at third. Price reached out to stab the smash & the throw got away from Argenio at first. Argenio flipped to Nolan (heads up play) covering first base & Nolan delivered a strike to Price at third cutting down the runner from first base & ending the game.
