Boyhood is a profound coming of age film that only Richard Linklater could do. The film is authentic in ways that I was not prepared for-- this may be the closest we have to cinematic catharsis these days. The performances are first rate and Ellar Coltranes Mason is just a wonder to watch. We recognize the moments of his life-- it is a distorted mirror of how we see the world. Boyhood certainly lives up to its hype. The film is far beyond awesome. If anything, Linklater just set the bar again very high!
