Kevins Grad was not quite what I expected. The venue of Saint Patricks Cathedral was quite spectacular and we got a seat looking across the conferring area, opposite side was a huge stained glass window full of colour in a forebodingly gothic setting, pillars and arches. I suddenly got memories of what this was all about and images passed through my mind of the times I shared and supported Kevin emotionally through difficult waters, and he is an emotional fish. Camped out at mine, cracking up when he was trying to get his final presentation together. Travelling up to Dublin in his first year when he decided to drop out and said he couldnt handle it, he did, but went back 2 years later and passed every year first time. I shared this very closely with him over manys a beer and other recreational stimulants. Then it started. The Organ, belting out Handels Water Music one of my favourite pieces of Classical music. Sublime! The tears just flowed, I turned my head up to the roof to stop them running down my face. It was an emotional experience I will always remember. How proud I was of my son, someone who has taught me as much as I have taught him.
