Keys to tonights game- 1.) Dont Quit! October or no October... I - TopicsExpress

Keys to tonights game- 1.) Dont Quit! October or no October... I want this team to finish strong. I know that everyone, players and fans alike, are hanging on to what little hope they can find that this team can pull off another late season miracle to make it to the post season. And there is nothing wrong with that hope. The problem is that when everything is magnified, and the mantra is you have to win every game.. players tend to try too hard. And when the team loses a game, as they did last night...frustration and the desire to give up looks pretty tempting. But if they give up, throw in the towel and write off this last week of baseball... it is going to be a really rough week for everyone. So instead of playing for October... they should play to the best of their ability for pride and for the fans. If October does happen... great. But if we come up short... at least we can say we did not give up. We did not quit. We did all we could. Nothing less than their best. 2.) Keep Building onto Houses foundation. House has really found his groove over the past three starts, where he has gone seven innings each start and maintained a .86 ERA. It was not too long ago that House defeated the Twins back on September 11, when he held them to four hits, no runs, and struck out eight. This season he has a 2-0 record against the Twins and a 1.56 ERA. So he has been able to handle whatever the Twins offense has tried to throw...errrr... swing at him. And tonight we need no less from him. House does not have overpowering stuff...so he has to keep the ball down and mix his pitches to keep the batters off balanced. And he must keep the ball down...because we saw that Minnesota can hit home runs when pitches are left up. I would pitch aggressively as well.. throw first pitch strikes and work the count in your favor. 3.) Stop the Twins. The twins have won three in a row. They took the last two they played against Detroit, and now the first one they have played against us. Well you know what... that is about enough of that. I want the offense to come out tonight and crush them. Make a statement and flex your baseball muscle. I know...you all just rolled your eyes at me and said something to the effect of, They have needed to do that for three months now! Yes, I know they have. But now is the time...if they are going to.... to do it. They are going up against Trevor May, the right handed rookie. We faced him on September 9th, where we scored two runs on five hits and knocked him out of the game in the 5th inning. We have seen his stuff before, so I expect that we should be ready to be aggressive. Who do I look for to have a big game? Jose Ramirez. I could tell that that poor boy was kicking himself last night... and rightly so. But he has been a breath of fresh air for this team, and has for the most part stepped in to fill a hole that once was held by Cabby. But, last night he committed an error (lack of experience induced) that was a game changer... I look for him to come in tonight anxious to redeem himself... and I believe he will. One game at a time. I am ready for Tribe baseball! Are you? #FaithInTito #ClevelandIndians
