Kia Ora Everyone! Its been a busy few months with the UC Student Volunteer Army who are preparing for their annual committee changeover and are starting a dedicated disaster response team for Christchurch. Big congrats to the team for their ongoing...they still undertake a project every weekend! Together, were preparing for a strong 2015 already! My work these days is mainly with the UNISDR building a network of young people to better lead and take action on the risk we face to disasters. Thanks to the work of our global team, Youth Beyond Disasters is set to launch on World Risk Reduction Day on 13 October! Recent highlights; speaking at the UN in Geneva and visiting the beautiful Philippines as they rebuild from their huge disaster. Im very grateful for the support of Inspire, and encourage others to chase your dreams, help others chase theirs by donating to inspire, and consider the change you want to have in the world! All the best, Sam Johnson (Photos: me at the UN Office in Geneva, team member Heras photo from Philippines Typhoon (Shes rebuilding schools- amazing!), photo of the Floods in Sri Lanka, and our action workshop at the UNISDR Pacific meeting in Fiji). youthbeyonddisasters.org
