Kia orana tatou Katoatoa In less than 3 days we welcome our Cook Island vaka Marumaru Atua to Auckland THE BIGGEST POLYNESIAN CITY IN THE WORLD This is a historical and exciting Event and we invite EVERYONE and all COOK ISLANDERS to join and make this celebration the most MEMORABLE. Aere mai to Okahu Bay in Orakei before 9am on Sunday the 7th December. A welcome powhiri for the 6 vakas - from Aotearoa, the Cook Islands, Hawaii, Samoa/Tonga and Fiji - will be performed by Ngati Whatua at Okahu Bay at 9am. After the vakas have landed, all crew members will be escorted by Ngati Whatua across Tamaki Drive to Okahu Domain for the Wero and official welcome ceremonies and tamataora. Some key notes; 1.Person(s) Groups wanting to perform or join in the performing teams contact te nga taunga ia Maki Karati mob 022 378 2298 and John Kiria 021 0237 2246. 2. Tamaki Drive at Okahu Bay will be closed for the best part of this ceremony so get to Orakei before 7am - suggested parking; Reihana St, Paora St, and Apihai St all within walking distance to the welcome ceremony area. Reihana St is accessible from Kepa Rd and Coates Ave. Use your Navsat or Mobile Phone Apps. 3. There will be kaikai so PLEASE bring COOKED FOOD - roast chicken, cooked pork, poke, mayonaise, chop seuy, ika mata. NOTE food will be served direct to table, no cooking facilities will be made available at Okahu Domain. 4. Can you help with some rauti?? We need over 90 ei Rauti to aka ei all the crew from the vakas. To all Cook Islands Groups attending please can you all provide 15 ei rauti each.
