Kid be mad!! I have to say that of all the bad qualities one can possess, incompetence infuriates me the most. The reason I feel this way right now is because I just picked up my Hohner Clavinet from a keyboard repairman, who had had it for over three months, and it was not working at all. He said on the phone everything was made operational finally,and upon arriving I quickly realized that he did not even know what a Clavinet is supposed to sound like. When I pointed out the OBVIOUS malfunctions (no sound except for an intermittent distortion) he said I am Getting another Clavinet in next week, let me keep it and compare the two, refusing to admit that this thing was far from operational. To which I replied it is pretty obvious you dont know what youre doing, and I want it back NOW He said there was parts and labor, and I said Ill pay for the parts. He bizarrely countered with Let me put the old parts back in and you can have it back at no charge I said This is my property, you are not to touch it anymore. I will give you 80$ and give me my Clavinet back The initial price he told me was 200$. That was not happening. He kept insisting he had to switch the parts out and when I refused, he told his wife to call the police. Aki Kumar can verify all this. At some point (maybe after Aki calmly explained some stuff to him), he let me take it back and now REFUSED to take any money, even though I was insisting. I am now once again in possession of a Clavinet that puts no sound out. Ive learnt my lesson and will now ask Val King to look at it, which I should have done first anyways. The thing that pisses me off is that this idiot was trying to maintain that he had done good work in spite of overwhelming evidence that it was still broken, and that he obviously does not even understand how the instrument works!!! Why couldnt he just have said Geez, I dont know anything about those three months ago??? That is honesty, and not an acceptance of defeat. I dont care WHAT you do in life, if youre a mechanic, musician, engineer or gas station attendant, take PRIDE in your work, and kick ass at it. If you cant, leave it to somebody else, and find something YOU can be good at. Thats all I got. Peace!!!
