Kidnapped Moroccan girl from Barcelona found in Bolivian jungle A NINE-YEAR-OLD Moroccan girl has been found in a Bolivian rainforest after being kidnapped in mysterious circumstances from her home in Barcelona. She went missing seven months ago after a Bolivian national, a friend of the family, took her on holiday to his native country, according to a consular spokesperson. The Spanish embassy in the Bolivian border city of La Paz says the youngster, who lives in LHospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona province) was located on Saturday in Chapare, in the central region of Cochabamba, right in the middle of the tropical rainforest which covers a large part of the middle of the landlocked South American country. She is in the care of police in the Cochabamba area and is due to fly back to Spain this week. Guardia Civil officers from Spain, who flew out to Bolivia to work with authorities in the country to coordinate the childs rescue, say the captor, who had lived in the Barcelona area for just over a year, made friends with the family and as a result they agreed she could go with him to Bolivia on holiday. The child went out to South America in August, but her parents lost contact with her soon afterwards and reported her disappearance to the Mossos dEsquadra, Catalunyas answer to the Guardia Civil. Her location is said to be a difficult area to access, in the heart of the jungle, and she was taken there to ensure she was cut off from any possible contact and would not be traced by authorities, the embassy says. The accused is in custody in Bolivia and may be extradited to Spain for trial. Spanish authorities have praised Bolivian police and the Guardia Civil from Spain for their excellent work, without which the rescue operation would not have been so successful. A legal gagging order has been placed on the case, which is in the hands of a judge in LHospitalet, so the possible motive for the kidnap has not been revealed. Source: Think Spain
