Kingdom convictions are about getting your priorities in line with His priorities. God wants to bless us abundantly so that we might become a conduit of provision to help expand His Kingdom. If our hands are open I believe theres no limit to what God will cause to pass through us. As Americans we must understand that the blessings of God can become a curse if we only focus on spending it on our desires rather than serving His. God doesnt care what we have, as long as it doesnt have us. People use the scripture where Jesus said, the poor you have with you always to say that we arent responsible for helping solve the issues that poverty creates. Many people eschew what they call a social gospel, focusing on right doctrine, spiritual depth, and becoming relevant. Jesus said in Matthew 25 that one day he will separate the nations the way a shepherd separates the sheep and the goats. Matthew 25:33-46 says, 33 He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will tell those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35f or I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. 36 I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me. 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? 38 When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you? 40 The King will answer them, Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. 41 Then he will say also to those on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry, and you didnt give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you didnt take me in; naked, and you didnt clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didnt visit me. 44 Then they will also answer, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didnt help you? 45 Then he will answer them, saying, Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you didnt do it to one of the least of these, you didnt do it to me. 46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Recently one of my facebook friends Sonja English Taylor collected items so that the folks at a local nursing home could be included in the celebration of Easter. At Word Alive International Outreach we fast meals and donate the money we would have spent on ourselves so that hungry people can eat. It is not enough to attend services, quote scriptures, and live nice lives. We must dedicate ourselves to the mission that Jesus gave His life for! A Pastor we support in Rwanda who ministers to a refugee camp filled with hundreds of thousands of people from the Congo said, people with empty bellies cannot hear. By providing highly nutritional meals and clean water to them he has had the opportunity to effectively preach the gospel to many who have never heard. The answer to such overwhelming need isnt to ignore it, but to simply do what we can. My grandmother was a poor widow raising my dad, but she was a giver. She taught my dad, that little is much, if God is in it. Jesus took a little boys lunch and fed a multitude. Im asking God to show me and my family where we can do more. The first step is being willing.
