Kitui County Jobs Shortlisting We are privy to some information circulating around about alleged malpractices in the recruitment for Kitui County jobs. To this end we would like to request for some information that will help us ensure that due process is followed. Among the allegations of irregularities include: • A board member shortlisting his son(s) for interview. This is not a problem as long the son is qualified and that the board member declares the conflict of interest excuses himself from the interview process. • Some applicants have been shortlisted for more than 8 jobs in the same advertisement yet others who applied for multiple positions for which they qualified were shortlisted for one or fewer and in some cases none at all • Preferred candidates/applicants shortlisted alongside weak candidates so as to manipulate who gets the job easily • Incidences of shortlisting ONE candidate for ONE job. This is a form of malpractice as they will not compete with anyone. In such a case, the procedure is normally to re-advertise the job as opposed to shortlisting a single applicant. • Less qualified applicants have been shortlisted e.g. known diploma holders have been shortlisted and some interviewed for jobs where the minimum qualification was advertised as a university degree. • The shortlisting does not reflect the face of the County as some areas are marginalized.
