A Ghanaian who lectures at a University in the UK makes it clear that nothing like research allowances exist or are paid there. What the Universities do is to equip their laboratories and libraries. A lecturer who wants to go into a particular research must apply to the University to gain that. Paying every University lecturer in Public Universities $ 1,500 and Polytechnic lecturer $400 every academic year adds up to the wagebill. Corporate Ghana needs your support for research work which you already do and get paid for.
