Kolkata racket forged papers for Bangla migrants: Kiren Rijiju OfficialThe Centre has in a significant revelation divulged that a Kolkata-based racket is involved in clandestinely managing forged passports and other Indian documents for Bangladeshi migrants. The apprehensions and seized documents reveal that Bangladeshi nationals do manage to source Indian citizenship documents. The intelligence inputs indicate that there is a Kolkata-based racket that manages to arrange such forged passports and other Indian credentials, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said. Admitting that illegal Bangladeshi migrants have been caught with Indian citizenship documents, Rijiju said that this year itself 11 people were apprehended with such documents. “It is not feasible to apprehend the border-crossers in the foreign soil. However, some Bangladeshi nationals have been apprehended by the BSF recently while crossing the border with Indian citizenship documents,” the minister said. Meanwhile, passing the buck on to the State Government to detect and deport illegal migrants, the Centre has said that perception prevails in the Northeast that illegal migration has changed the demographic and socioeconomic conditions in certain areas.
