Korean band to perform before Manipur crowd MU NEWS/IMPHAL, Nov 23 : For the first time in the history of rock shows, a Korean Pop rock band ‘Biuret’ is all set to perform before the Manipur crowd where Korean wave is extremely popular on December 3. Manager Bode Paonam of Chumthang Events & Promotions said theyre happy to launch the first Indo-Korean Music Festival 2013 at YAC Ground, Imphal on that day, in association with Korean Cultural Centre India. He added the show will be held to commemorate the 40th years of Korea-India Diplomatic relations. The band which had previously toured UK, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan and China, is led by the stunning Hye Won Moon (Lead Vocal, Guitar, Song writer), Jai Hyun Ahn (Bass Guitar) and Gyo Won Lee (Lead Guitar). Besides ‘Biuret’ which will headline the festival which aims to become one of the biggest cultural festivals witnessed in Manipur, other bands to share the stage with the Korean counterpart include Tripura based hi-pop BK & INA, Arunachal Pradesh based pop artist Boby Techi and local favourite The Dirty Strikes. This is the first time for any Korean band to ever perform in the state, which is also home to the largest Korean fans/well-wishers in India, the even manager felt. The festival main objective is to share closer cultural ties between the people of Northeast states and South Korea. The one-day event would also see well-known artists of Manipur and other Northeastern states, he added. It may be worth mentioning here that prior to Imphal gig, the Korean band will officially launched the most awaited Hornbill International Rock Contest at Solidarity Park in Nagaland’s capital Kohima on December 1.
