Kris Commons says he was delighted to mark his return to Celtic’s starting XI by getting three points at Celtic Park. The attacker was back for the Bhoys as they lined up against Dundee this afternoon after a seven-week injury absence, taking up his preferred role behind lone striker John Guidetti. The 31-year-old linked up well with the Swede and even went close to finding the back of the net on a few occasions before being replaced by Beram Kayal near the hour mark. Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV after the game, Commons admitted that while he was disappointed not to score on his Paradise return, he was happy with the victory that maintains Celtic’s place at the top of the Scottish Premiership. He said: “It was nice to get some minutes on the park this afternoon. I’ve trained all week, I’m feeling good and it’s all about getting that match sharpness back now where you are seeing passes and seeing runners in the team. “It would have been nice to get on the score-sheet and I had my fair share of chances but I think I have to look to the positives and that’s the three points and that we’re still at the top of the league.” The win over the Dark Blues extends Celtic’s unbeaten run to eight games with John Guidetti bagging his 10th goal for the club, following Anthony Stokes’ opener on the stroke of half-time. With the Swedish striker unable to feature in this Thursday’s UEFA Europa League tie against FC Salzburg, Commons believes the Bhoys will be in for a difficult encounter against the Austrians who currently sit at the top of Group D. He added: “In patches we were okay and I think Dundee were good for their goal, maybe even more. We got a little bit sloppy in the last 15 minutes or so and we weren’t quite at the races towards the end, but I’m sure we’ll be more than ready for Thursday night against FC Salzburg. “There’s no doubt they are a good side. We have another week of training ahead of us and we’ll need to work hard to get the better of them.”
