Kristen writes: As the parent of a very bright child, I feel like Im always trying to balance how I speak about her outside of the context of my closest family members. I dont want to seem ashamed of her abilities (by hiding, ignoring, or minimizing them), but neither do I want to be perceived as boasting. I think Im probably way to sensitive to what I perceive as the opinions of others. We have now begun a preschool and her differentness is apparent to others and little comments have begun. (We will be homeschooling long term). I really would like to hear about other parents have navigated this minefield. It feels a little like a minefield to me sometimes!
