Kubrick accepting The DW Griffith Award (not an award Id like to receive, as Griffith was a seething racist, but whatever). Great speech. Gives insight on the then upcoming Eyes Wide Shut; makes great Icarus analogy. Seeing Kubrick speak is like seeing bigfoot.....so that makes this even more special. He had been talking a lot with Spielberg before his death after the release of Eyes Wide Shut, who pays him a great honor (although the film becomes his own and lacks the Kubrick vision) of completing Kubricks last thought in AI: Artificial Intelligence. Here is a man not interested in the Hollywood life, but only the enjoyment of his art.
