Kwankwaso And His Presidential Bid Lawal Sani Malumfashi — Sep 10, 2014 | 10 Comments The quest for a focus, competent and credible leadership with nationalistic outlook has never been so greater. At the present most painful moment of its history, the desperately fundamental factor surrounding Nigeria is of course that of leadership. The country has everything it takes to be a great nation. The populous country of Africa and the first ten most populous countries in the world, Nigeria is nonetheless among least developed albeit confused societies of Africa and the world. Historical records suggest that population was attributable to the 19thcentury industrial revolution and is still the engine of growth and development in China and India. Again Nigeria is among the first ten most resourceful countries of the world, it has massive agricultural potentialities, iron ore, coal, gold, gas and petroleum abound. Half of Northern Nigeria is sitting on extensive gas reserve, from Katsina to Osun is a whole gold belt, yet the country is one of the poorest in the world in terms of living standards – half of its population is below poverty level, no quality education, no workable and effective health care, no electricity, no quality drinking water, not to talk of the escalation of insecurity at incredibly unprecedented level – Why not Kwankwaso. Nigeria, one of the most environmentally stable country in the world yet egoism and bigoted politics thwart the possibility of harnessing the environment and injecting economic growth – why not Kwankwaso. Interestingly the country is one of the most religious in the world with sheer number of Muslims surpassing the Muslim population of any Middle Eastern country and sheer number of Christian of catholic denomination only surpassing the Christian population of Scotland. Every language, structure, place, event and animal in Nigeria bears a religious symbol and significance, yet Nigeria and Nigerians are the most corrupt in the world. The corruption is so dominant and conspicuous that “even common stealing” in Nigeria is tag as corruption. Mhm! The commonality of stealing in Nigeria suggests the normality of the practice. The only country with flourishing and booming child factories, cultism, child trafficking, kidnapping, human parts trading and all forms of negativities – why not Kwankwaso. Nigeria is one of the most diverse countries in the world with over 150 ethnic groups. If multiculturalism and plurality influenced growth and development in U.S.A, China and India, Nigeria would have developed faster than those countries. Alas, the country is the most divisive and polarised, ethnically suspicious and hostile nation replete with ethno-religious crises of the alarming rate – why not Kwankwaso. What Nigerians need at this desperate moment is competent, sincere, intelligent and proactive leadership. A rational leader who has the capacity and will power to tackle the crushing poverty and insecurity, stamp out corruption, overcome youth unemployment and consequent youth subculture, a leader who can effectively address the problems of oil seepage and spillage of the south-south, erosion of the south-east, flooding of the south-west and desertification of the north- why not Kwankwaso. Nigerians are after a leader who think and see beyond his limited geo-political zone and social environment, a leader who is prudent and incorruptible, a leader who is mentally and physically capable of re-engineering the nation to the right direction- why not Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. It is time for Nigerians to see beyond the sums of their parts and look for a compatriot who is allergic to tribalism and bigoted thinking, religious sentiment and corruption- why not Kwankwaso. Our educational sector is in a confused state and health sector in comatose. With threatening ebolisation of public health and laughable performance of our security networks, Nigerians are in dire need of a proactive leader – why not Kwankwaso. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso the Governor of Kano State happens to be the right governor at the right time in the right environment with the right policies and as far as Kano governance is concern, Kwankwaso is lucky to be surrounded with the right people. By his decision to contest for the Presidency Kwankwaso is boldly heading to the right direction. His performance as the Governor of Kano State is spectacular! Kano is now completely a new state. The level of transformations recorded is proudly unparallel and it is possible to replicate same performance at national level. Readers may wish to come to Kano and see things for themselves. Nigerians are simple and similar irrespective of their ethno-religious differences ( the Hausa, Fulanis, Yoruba, Igbo, Tiv, Jukuns, Eguns, Ejigams, Orons, Ibibios, Anangs, Ijaws, Kajes, Ilajes, Ikales, Mumuyes, Kanuris, and lots more) share the same objective and subjective living conditions artificially imposed on them by corrupt, insensitive and egotistical leadership over the years. Their objective and subjective living conditions do not discriminate between tribes or religion. It is simply absolute poverty, unemployment, insecurities occasioned by claiming sizeable Nigerian territories, rejection, dejection and disease. The country is obviously in existential dilemma and desperately needs a competently resolute leader who is capable of rescuing the population from the present state of despondency – why not Kwankwaso. I understand that Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso belongs to APC and it is safe to maintain that the future of this dying nation is by implication in the hands of APC. The APC has the good and could be the last opportunity to salvage the nation by fielding Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as its presidential flag bearer. Concern for the nation must be over and above any vested interest, cautions must be made not give room for another failure. Nigerians are tired of systemic failure. Enough!
