Building and maintaining communities have nothing to do with our differences, but in our commonalities as global citizens. As long as we continue to learn about and from each other, respect and uplift each other, we will grow and blossom in our hearts and in our lives. This is no time to despair even when our expectations are not met or our dreams unfulfilled. We should not turn our backs on those who struggle with their frailties. Instead, these challenges should be the impetus to be compassionate to our brothers and sisters in our homes, communities and world. We need to awaken to a common consciousness of all being inhabitants of Earth. This consciousness is not to be found in some distant place. It will not be found on a computer screen. It lies in our hearts, in our ability to share the pain of our fellow human beings. It is the spirit that says: As long as you are suffering, whoever you are and whatever your suffering may be, I suffer also.— Daisaku Ikeda Written By Michelle Monkoe Like · · Share
