Kyja is looking for some help. She says: Hello, I am a mother of a 23 year old son who has been dealing with what the primary care physicians consider Connective Tissue Disease. About 2 months ago, Derek went to an Emergent Care faciltiy/Med Expess after 3 weeks of rash around eyes (bright red - non itchy) and pain in his fingers. They gave him eye drops and a z-pak, thinking it would fight infection. Derek did not get any better, and his fingers became tighter and hurt even just slightly brushing up against something. He was unable to open a water bottle and grasping a door knob was very painful for him. He was also having trouble opening his mouth fully. I took him to the family doctor who thought it may be schleraderma or some form of connective tissue disease. They did bloodwork and the factors came out negative for Schleraderma and RA. (RA runs in our family). A Rheumatology appt was made for October 14th and a followup appt with family doctor was this morning. Derek returned to the PCP with no change at all to the eyes, and his mouth is tight, his fingers, hand and up the arms are tight, his stomach is tight and he cannot lick his lips as his tongue is tight and can only stretch out to his teeth. I am very concerned!!! The PCP said he was going to call the Rheumatologist and try to get him in sooner. I pray it is very soon as I am watching my son deteriorate in front of me. Please, if you have any advice or suggestions, let me know. We need answers so we know the next step. I found this page and have read a lot of the statuses. I am so concerned about my boy and was hoping you could help me out. Thank you so much!
