L.O. Hunt Club dressage show 2014 is donzo! Whew what a weekend-I swear this show always feels like it goes on forever. I was a smart girl and only rode the first day (Friday) and then sent my boys home to vacy for the rest of the weekend. I wanted to be able to focus on my baby birds. My plan went well and I loved being able to be there for each one of them. We were also smart and rented a hotel room that was 5 minutes from the venue. You dont know how wonderful it was not to camp this year and that we could literally go play in the pool in between our rides! My baby birds grew some plumage this show. Paige Cameron and Patti Jones are now inducted into the show group. They both had the deer in headlights look yesterday in their first class. I think the both of them did fantastic for their first ever show. Patti grew some confidence in the show ring and was able to produce some very nice tests. Today however Caden decided that it was ok to vacate the arena on the last movement. It was funny and everyone(judge included) had a good laugh. Shows dont always go how we want it go,and that is kinda how it went for them. This is the thing-they did it,they were out there trying and learning. I was extremely proud of the grace that Patti had today. Her and Caden are a growing team and I know their day will come soon. Paige took the sassy Honey Bager(sophie) in 2 training level classes. She was so focused and really had some great moments in both of her test. Sophie can test her rider, but she was a very good girl for both her riders. Paige has come so far from the hunt-seat rider she was. I am excited that she had fun and I think she will definitely show in the future. Melissa Pedegana Bailey tamer and owner of The Honey Badge also had such a great show. The confident and relaxed Melissa I know was present and was able to really improve from her HOV show experience. Erin McCarthy piloted the fancy Etta through 5 wonderful rides. Erin is almost 13 weeks pregnant and this was her last ride on Etta today so that she could focus on growing a healthy baby. It was emotional to watch Erin ride. She has found her special horse. Her and Etta are a team. Etta never took a wrong step and kept her rider safe and secure. I know it sounds weird but I think Etta knew she had to be careful with Erin. They pulled some great scores, lots of ribbons and like a gazillion more fan club members for Etta. I thanked Etta after each ride for her keeping our precious girl safe and slipped her some green hay as a special reward ;) These girls were truly amazing this weekend. They helped each other, were so supportive, kind and generous the whole weekend. So many new stories to share and many memories that I will cherish. I have wanted to do this very thing-ride horses and help people ride their horses my whole life. I love it and am so grateful to my students that make my dreams come true. Great job ladies, mama quail is proud of her baby birds-nice flying this weekend
