LABOUR PARTY POLITICKING WITH PRIVATISATION.........Left - Right - Left - Right about turn - Really? I heard Labours Shadow Business Secretary, Chuks Unmena condemned the privatisation of the Royal Mail as being sold cheap hence short changed the taxpayers. I remember Labour made similar condemnation of the sale of BT & British Gas in 1984 by late Margaret Thatcher. Look at the two companies today, they have re-structured their businesses to meet global challenges which makes them much more viable ventures, innovative and competitive than when owned by British government. The fact is the market valuation price and the eventual capitalisation was determined by factors outside political remit eg. exogenous factors. Governments are advised by experts in the market on investors expectation and anything short of that would have resulted in a worse situation long term. I heard that some members of the trade unions group are courting the Eds. M/s Milliband-Balls & Co. on re-nationalisation of these companies with clause 4 being reinstated, well, you turn the clock back from New Labour, and the party will be back in the political wilderness for another 18 years perhaps this time, even longer. I hope the rational and logical thinking members of Labours NEC would not allow the likes of Harriet Harman to take the party back to the dark days of militant tendency. To get back into government or not? Thats the question. What is your choice, LABOUR PARTY? BBC Daily Politics & Sunday Politics BBC Breakfast BBC Africa ITV News The Independent Financial Times
