LAHORE: At least 30 people were killed and more than 40 were injured in a powerful blast near Wagah Border on Sunday, Women and children are among the victims. The death toll is feared to go up as most of those injured are said to be in critical condition. Dr Khurram, deputy superintendent of the hospital, has confirmed that 30 dead bodies have been brought to the facility. According to initial reports, the blast took place in a local market at the Wagah Border immediately after the parade ceremony. An eyewitness told SAMAA that the explosion occurred shortly after people walked out of the parade ground. Rescue teams reached at the scene and shifted the dead and injured to Ghurki Hospital, where emergency was imposed. Meanwhile, bomb disposal squad was called in to determine the nature of the blast. In a press statement, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack and expressed grief over loss of precious lives. -
