LAOS This was taken this am at the Laos Mekong Falls. The boat trip this a.m. never happened, so we had to go by car, just another rip off. So far Laos ( apart from the beer) has been rip offs. To make matters worse, Tricia took a tumble and has a grazed elbow. They then wanted to charge us to ride the free shuttle back to the parking lot. Fortunately we had a lovely French couple with us who were of great help to Tricia. So were the local kids who got her leaves to chew to put on the graze. They were playing a type of knuckle bones game with sticks and stones. Anyway we have seen more Mekong falls, nothing of the 4,000 islands which is very disappointing. Oh well, we are both safe after being left in the wrong place with no way to get to the hotel yesterday. Now on the terrace and resting from the heat. Leona Charcoal burns down the bottom and cook on top. Very efficient. I watched them cook like that during my wait! Bus loads of tourists at falls this am. Fancy buses come from Thailand. Many people here on organised tours. We cant figure out if we are rich or not. We think $1 = 8000! Are we rich yet? I even use the calculator on tablet and it is still confusing. We think $1 Us is about 8,000,Kip. I got 2 beer and appy for the same price as Tricias drink which was gin, Cointreau, ice and lime. Happy times for an injured Tricia
