LAP ROBES FOR VETERANS WANTS YOU! Nancy Van Apeldoorn is the creator of Lap Robes For Veterans with her motto of so many veterans, sew little time. Nancys husband is a Vietnam veteran. She understands that the battle doesnt end when our soldiers come home. She has made it her mission to provide lap robes for Veterans in nursing Homes, Gold Star Mothers, Vietnam Veterans in hospice, Honor Flights at Rochester International Airport, and last year sent to Walter Reed Hospital as well as providing for individual Veterans. Over the past 8 years she has had the privilege of providing over 3000 Lap Robes to Veterans. Last year alone was 700. What started as 2 women with a passion to thank our men and women that have served so selflessly has now grown to over 50 sewers! Every Lap Robe is made with Love for our Veterans from all branches of service. She welcomes all sewers of all skill levels and from many different walks of life. Her volunteers meet once a month at Jackie Lynns to help make the lap robes. Anyone is welcomed! There is always something to do! Comes A Soldiers Whisper is sending out a donation this week! Nancy needs to purchase batting, quilting and the materials necessary to lovingly make these beautiful lap robes for our veterans. No donation is too small for such a huge cause!
