*** LAST CALL MAP **** If the overall headline of this winter has been THE WINTER OF THE POLAR VORTEX than here in the Middle Atlantic states and esspecially over the lower Middle Atlantic states ... the secondary or subhead line could only be the WINTER OF THE DRY SLOT. if you go back and READ the FIRST GUESS and FIRST CALL forecast maps .. I did play squatted the emphasis on about my concern with regard to the concerned dry slot over Western North Carolina punching up into southwestern Virginia and eventually into portions of South Central Virginia. Obviously this is always a concern for southwest Virginia but this winter as soon as the dry slot has pushed it north into that portion of the commonwealth it seems to have rapidly expanded into much of central and South Central Virginia and this event appears to be following a trend quite nicely. One could cynically argue that from now on we should ALWAYS assume a dry slot but that is not always the case. Next winter may feature a pattern which does not feature any dry slots and there have been winters like that in the recent past so we cannot to buy we assume that every winter storm in Virginia south of a line from Charlottesville and Fredericksburg is going to have a dry slot and we should therefore slash all the snowfall amounts by 50% . Anyway this is the final call map and it will pay any more changes and wIl let it fly and see how it works out. I would like to say that my confidence is high that theres going to be no weather winter weather events and this is the last one of the season but there does appear to be a another threat down the road sometime around March 25-26
