LATINO CANADIANS If Latinos dont speak out right now you wont have an opportunity to have your say on this later. Latino organizations from Ontario have already petitioned the City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario and the Canadian Federal Government to mark October as the National Hispanic Month. We dont agree that October is the month and we dont agree that these organizations made this decision without consulting all Latinos across Canada; and we are Latinos, not to take away from our Spain roots but then we push away Brazil from the picture if we continue to say we are Hispanic when in fact we are Latinos. Another thing to understand, if these organizations get their way this will affect all of of our celebrations and how we petition government in the future for funding and such, this has wide range of implications. Please think about this and if you think we are wrong in asking to declare September 15 to October 15 Latino Heritage month then dont sign the petition [link below] but if you think we are right then we urge you to speak up and be heard, there wont be another chance later.
