LEAPS AND BOUNDS!!!!! This is a puppy that has been coming to me since he was itty-bitty! Chelsie worked on him since day one because cocker spaniels are some of my favorite dogs to work on and it was a great opportunity for her to learn to deal with a puppy! This is a show how, as a grooming you are always learning! Every puppy goes through an adolescent/teenager stage! I have taught my customers over the years to expect a demeanor and behavior change in their puppy when they start reaching that six-month age! I taught myself how to groom over a five-year period solely using puppies that I bread and sold to friends and family! Puppies are a definite different challenge for sure, if not handled properly and brought in frequently then by 7 months of age they start wanting to be the boss of their body and start showing some signs of potential aggression! Well we did everything right the owner started bringing him in right away at four months and every month after that! So he was getting lots of socialization and lots of grooming done! For some reason right around six or seven months he started to being aggressive at home and here at the shop! The owner spoke to the vets and was a little worried sick that they might have to put him down one day her and I spoke together and did some corrective measures! Her at home (gaining control, gently but assertively without being too rough) and me here in the shop starting off with the cone and some assertive Eye to Eye contact and grumbly gravelly NOs it only took 2 visits with a cone on and today Im happy to say I can groom this dog head to toe with the odd little noand eye to eye contact and he a smart ins right up with no wanting to bite! Of course his feet and legs were a huge challenge! so enjoy this little video clip and know there is always a way to turn your dogs potential aggression around! Owner says that he has changed a lot at home and now they can stick their hands in his mouth and hes not lunging at them anymore and things are getting a lot easier! Watch how he rocks and waves his head, those are the times that hes thinking about lunging but has decided....ah this aint so bad! So now my grumbly NOs have turned into ah....good puppy thats a good boy! Established whos the boss whos in control and now building a friendship!
