LEARN HOW TO DRIVE/WALK ACROSS A ROUNDABOUT TONIGHT, 6:30-8 P.M., PDC CITY HALL--All are welcome! Tonight, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Prairie du Chien City Hall Community Room, the city will hold a public meeting to review safe driving and pedestrian procedures and answer questions related to the three roundabouts being installed on Marquette Road. The meeting, which is being co-sponsored by the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce, will begin with a presentation by Police Chief Chad Abram and Sergeant Kyle Teynor on roundabout safety. An open forum will follow for questions on roundabout safety for both drivers and pedestrians. “There are a number of driving do’s and don’ts that drivers will have to be aware of when the roundabouts open up for business,” said Abram. “There are also a number of pedestrian-related issues we want to cover.” Representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will also be attending the meeting, and unveiling a drive thru video presentation. Three roundabouts are being constructed as part of the Marquette Road upgrade, located at the intersections of Iowa-Marquette, Wisconsin-Marquette and Blackhawk-Marquette. All three roundabouts are two-lane. “This is a forum for pedestrian and vehicle safety, rules and recommendations, not a forum on whether roundabouts are good or bad,” said City Administrator Aaron Kramer. “They are here, and it is our responsibility to get the information out on how to walk, bike and drive through them safely.” For more information, contact City Hall at 326-6406.
