LEKKI-EPE EXPRESSWAY: Lagos plans to pay off LCC; The Lagos state government is proposing to review the agreement signed with the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) on the ongoing expansion of the Lekki-Epe Expressway. The state Commissioner for Budget and Planning Ben Akabueze made this known today while appearing with some other Commissioners to defend the N7.5 billion naira Budget Re-ordering request sent to the House by Governor Babatunde Fashola. He explained that parts of the plan by government for the review of the agreement with the LCC was to pay them off in order to take full possession of the road. Akabueze noted that government had already committed about N10 billion naira to the funding of the project which took off in 2004 billed to cost N50billion naira. He also speaks on why some government agencies and parastatals failed to meet their budget target. The State Commissioner for Finance Ayo Gbeleyi further speak on what will become of the LCC and the Toll gate in the nearest future. Our Reporter can report that the 49 kilometre Lekki-Epe Expressway expansion will have three toll gates was contracted to LCC in 2006.
