LESSON OF THE DAY: BETTER ASLEEP THAN ....?? :) The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Do not criticize; you will not die unless you experience what you criticize.” [Tirmidhi] A pious man related that when he was a child he would have a strong desire to awake in the night and worship. He says, “So I used to pray and make Dua to Almighty Allah for the common good. “One night, while everybody was sleeping, my father was awake and he was reciting the Quran. I asked my father regarding those who were sound asleep, ‘Why are they wasting their night in sleep instead of praying at least two Rakaat?’ “My father warned me sternly, ‘I wish you were also asleep rather than awake and criticizing others.’” It is a virtue to consider others’ small good deeds as big and one’s own “big” good deeds as small. Moreover, we should view others’ enormous mistakes as tiny and our own “tiny” mistakes as colossal. If a heart is full of faith it doesn’t seek the faults of others. One of the early Muslims said, “If a friend among your friends errs, make seventy excuses for them. If your hearts are unable to do this, then know that the shortcoming is in your own selves.” [Shu`ab Al-Iman] Via The Ideal Muslimah
