LESSONS I HAVE LEARNT FROM SOME OF OUR GUESTS (before, during, after) THE KHILAFAH CONFERENCE... The brothers from Denmark gave some beautiful angles related to the first ten ayaat of Surat Al Mu’minoon and how the qualities which are mentioned should shape our personality as Da’wah carriers. Our enthousiasm for the Da’wah should not be triggered by extern factors (such as when Bush declared the war on Islam, the struggle between Iman and Kufr was apparent) but by the Islamic ‘aqeedah. Allah (swt) mentions in the Surah the aspect of Khushoo’ which teaches us that we should always be humble as our objective is Jannah, and not merely Jannah but Al Firdaws as mentioned at the end of the 10 ayaat in the Surah. In this way we will always carry Islam, no matter what the people think of us. They also gave examples of the characteristics of the Sahaaba and the importance of preserving our identity as Muslims living in the West. The brothers from Belgium and Germany have shown their love and compassion for Islam and the Da’wah, travelling just for the sake of Allah. It reminded me of the following hadith mentioned in Sahih Muslim: ‘’A man set out to visit a brother (in Faith) in another town and Allah sent an angel on his way. When the man met the angel, the latter asked him, Where do you intend to go? He said, I intend to visit my brother in this town. The angel said, Have you done any favour to him? He said, No, I have no desire except to visit him because I love him for the sake of Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious. Thereupon the angel said, I am a messenger to you from Allah (to inform you) that Allah loves you as you love him (for His sake). Refugees from Syria were a practical example, showing why As-Shaam and its people are mentioned and praised so much in the Islamic texts. One of the brothers was disabled, having a wheelchair but nonetheless decided to join the conference as he and others knew Hizb ut Tahrir from their time in Syria. Ustadh Ibrahim an-Nabhani provided the vistors with an insight to the life of his father, Sheikh Taqiuddin an-Nabhani. Although he mentioned many inspiring things related to the Da’wah, the imprisonment of his father etc. it was the way he spoke about the role of the Sheikh as being a father which was amazing. As many of us know how hard it sometimes may be to balance between Da’wah and family life. Although the Sheikh was very busy he was a very caring father and his family supported his Da’wah and were proud of him. This reminded me of the care of Khadija (ra) to the Prophet (saw). She believed in him when others rejected him. She supported him while others mocked him. And he never forgot to mention her great virtues. Taji Mustafa as usual gave a motivational speech. Great interaction with the public. He emphasized three main points: We should practice Islam, protect the Islamic values and convey Islam. Although these points might be known by the majority of the Muslims, he related these points to the famous story of Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (ra) facing Quraish as a young boy. He had an objective and although he was hit by Quraish after reciting Surat Al Rahman he was ready to do the same again. This shows the importance of steadfastness in Da’wah just as the Sahaaba, even though we and our values might be attacked from all sides. I ask Allah (swt) to unite us in Djannatul Firdaws al alaa just as he brought us together yesterday at a place in which we remembered Him (swt).
