LESSONS OF LIFE 19 IMITATION OF GOD Today, I want us to meditate on the word imitation. To imitate is to copy someone or something an individual thinks is good. By this definition, we can see that no one goes all out in the first place to copy what he or she believes is not profitable. So, to imitate is a good and commendable thing and even the scriptures recommend it. 1 Cor 4:15-17 15 Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you to imitate me. 17 For this reason I am sending to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church. NIV Heb 6:12 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. NIV Heb 13:7-8 7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. NIV 3 John 11-12 11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. NIV However, while it is good to imitate something and or someone who in your opinion is good, you should not forget that: 1. You were created you and that the best you can be is you. So, instead of dying a poor copy of another, better live as original you. 2. Since determining whether someone or something is good is subjective, it is possible that a good thing you set out to copy may end up being a bad thing. 3. since no man is perfect, no one is credible enough to be copied into to, including your father and mother. Therefore selective imitation is herein recommended. THE BEST PERSONALITY TO IMITATE IS GOD, THEREFORE BE YE THE IMITATORS OF GOD BY BEING THE IMITATORS OF CHRIST. WHEN WE IMITATE GOD, WE BECOME THE IMITATORS OF GOD AND WHEN WE BECOME THE IMITATORS OF GOD WE BECOME THE IMITATIONS OF GOD. I AM BETTER OF AN IMITATION OF GOD THAN AS AN IMITATION OF MAN!!!!!!
