LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK FOR GOD: The Bible says Abel was dead but was still speaking. We buried dad honorably on Saturday and the next day, about 24 people gave their lives to Christ when I made the altar call at his Thanksgiving service. Like his Lord Jesus, this grain of wheat fell to the ground and others arose to live new lives in Christ. Though buried he is still speaking. Dads was a life well lived. He spoke for God, literally. In 1982 he commanded his children to start a prayer meeting in his home, which became a powerful evangelistic miracle ministry named TRANSCEA, led by my brother Opoku, whom I nicknamed Captain, as like Joshua he led us in the work of ministry, out of that work many ministries were born whose impact is worldwide. That was how I became a minister of the gospel. Dad was Bishop of World Missions Gospel Outreach Ministries, Dansoman, Accra, Ghana. Preached his last sermon on Sunday September 8 and went to be with The Lord on 9.9.13. Dad was a very kind, caring and compassionate person, who always took people in since we were kids, put a roof over their heads, fed them and provided for their education and training. At the time of his passing from earth to glory he had 14 people living in his home. Dad was a great man. He came from a small town in the Western Region of Ghana, walked barefooted to school yet arose to become an Aeronautical Engineer, with Ghana Airways and Air Liberia, an Airline Executive with an executive MBA, lived and worked in Seattle, Washington, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, London, England and travelled all over the world, from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Dakar, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Holland, India, through several countries in between covering just about every alphabet, to Zambia and Zimbabwe. He was humble but very strong, had a third degree black belt in Judo. Dad was forthright, and taught us the value of integrity, a good education, living with focus and discipline, but was amazingly very playful, always joking, and had a hearty laugh. He taught us martial arts and played soccer with us, which at the time wasnt common for an African father. He was indeed a remarkable man, of an amiable personality, handsome and unforgettable. Though we would prefer that he were still with us we know his, was a life well lived, and now he is with his Lord whom he loved so deeply. We are happy he is at peace, though we miss him terribly. He has produced many sharp arrows, children and grandchildren (both natural and spiritual), who will speak and live for God, excelling spiritually, academically, professionally, socially, politically, maritally, and in every area of life. I will never forget his admonition to always keep moving forward through every trial, challenge and difficulty, always keep moving forward, even after every accomplishment, he would say. His legacy includes a son who is a partner with an international consulting company based in the USA, a grandson who is on an academic scholarship in a reputable American University, another who graduated from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University, and two Ivy Leaguers! As my mom said of dad, he was an extraordinary man! Dad, like Moses, led our family and many out of bondage, as it were, out of Egypt, crossed the Red Sea into the promised land, and now its time for us, The Joshua generation to possess and share the land for our inheritance. Now its my turn, our turn. We shall also run our race and finish our course to Gods glory in Jesus matchless name. Amen. Thank you Lord, thank you dad for everything, I salute you! Rest in Peace Dad. Thank you all for your time, prayers, words of comfort, presence, love and support. May God bless you all abundantly. I love you. Dr. A.T.Turkson. 2 Timothy 4:7-8; Revelation 14:13; 21:3-4; Psalm 127:3-5; Proverbs 20:7.
