LETS PUT POLITICS ASIDE I doubt it if J. F. Kennedy with Nelson Mandela, both as President and Vice President respectively can survive the bulk of ills that has bedevilled Nigeria.....if our military can be this armless in fighting insurgent, then our 30yrs+ in the hands of Agunyi Ironsi, Gowon, Murtala, Obasanjo, Buhari, Babangida, Abacha and Abdul-Salam were wasted years and decades of SHAME. I have no doubt that these set of people killed our army. Many in the army today are not gallant soldiers but elites sons who perceived NA as a gateway to political limelite. The weak are the ones rising to the ranks of Lt Col, Brigadier General etc because they are sons of the elites who made it to the NDA short service with their parents influence. These silver spooned will give order to the real gallant soldiers who are recruits and sergents and should the latter errs, the Lt Cols charge them for mutiny and other related offences. Am not advocating for a complete overhaul of our military but I think we should look into how we recruit men into the system. That Obasanjo is a retired soldier doesnt mean his sons should also be soldiers. This mediocrity has killed our security agencies. Imagine someone joining the Nigeria Police Cadet ASP/Insp course two months after the commencement of the programme, just because Obasanjo gave him a note to the police service chief. And yet we complain about a two star officer running away from local thieves in our societies. The ills in every sectors of our country is traceable to the influence of the elites in fixing their sons and daughters in government. Apology to Oyo people, the elites have succeeded in fixing a society where your father must be a General for you to be a Lt Col just like Oba title in Oyo. So bastardised that it has entered our Churches and Mosques. Nevertheless, am still optimistic that Nigeria will be great once we survive 2015 as a nation. God Bless Nigeria.
