LGEA Secretaries and Other Stakeholders in Niger State Charged to Work Tirelessly Towards Boosting Education at the Grassroots. Local Government Education Secretaries, Supervisory Councillors of Education, Local Education Authority Committee Chairmen and Heads of Frictions of the 25 Local Governments in Niger State have been charged to work tirelessly towards boosting education at the grassroots. The State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Danladi Umar Abdulhamid stated this at the opening of a one-day seminar organized by the National Association of Local Government Education Secretaries of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter, at the Community Education Resource Center, Minna. The Commissioner, who was represented by the Deputy Director Inspectorate Department in the ministry, Mr. James B. Lanko stated that the development of education was a collective responsibility of all and should not be left for the government alone. Alhaji Danladi Umar Abdulhamid revealed that statistics had shown that there are about ten million Nigerian children roaming the streets without education, as such all hands must be on deck to ensure they were been educated. Earlier, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Uba Hassan, who was represented by the Permanent Board Member IV, Engineer Isah Aliyu explained that the board was working round the clock to ensure that all primary schools across the state were given a befitting structure and provide them with the necessary learning materials. Also speaking, the Local Government Education Authority Committee Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed Makusidi identified the problem bedeviling education at the grassroots to lack of proper funding and called on the government to ensure that the sector was given proper attention to enable it succeed.
