LGTB: Jodie Fosters first big love scene was not the crushingly jejune SOMMERSBY but her first Oscar winner, THE ACCUSED. Of course, she was not a willing participant, even though it was understood that half of the audiences would be turned on. When you are closeted and cagey, you come up with ways to come across. The film is a love story between her character, Sarah Tobias, and her reluctant attorney, played by Kelly McGillis, who guess what? is lesbian! I think the film is effective, however underground, to show that women - gay or straight - who have been assaulted by men can heal and move on. This is hardly Foster only secret dyke film...
