LIGHT: Have you ever needed something durning the night, but didnt want to turn the light on? So you found yourself walking in the darkness, stumping over everything in your path. I have. Yesterday, I began feeling like I was catching a cold. I was sneezing and my nose was running throughout the day. By the middle of the night I awoke having problem breathing. I was really stopped up. I needed to get out of bed and find a bottle Vicks Vapor to help open up my breathing passage way. I reached for my iPhone. The iPhone come with a flashlight that is really bright. So I turned the flashlight on in the darkness and started moving across the room looking for the Vicks. Upon finding it, I returned to my bed and turned off the flashlight. Light is one of those necessities of life. I would hate to live my life in the dark. How depressing. I also need the light to show me where Im going. It gives the right amount of light to prevent me from stumbling over an object in my path. The Psalmist said, Your word is a LAMP for my feet, a LIGHT on my path (Psa. 119:105, NIV). Not only is light important for our earthly journey, its vital for our spiritual journey. As you read Gods Word, do you equate that Word as a LIGHT that not only shine to reveal things that need to be extracted from out lives, but a light to reveal the path ahead. Thats why the scripture emphasizes the importance of reading, understanding, and mediating on Gods Word. In Proverbs 6:23, Solomon said, For the commandment is a LAMP and the whole teaching [of the law] is LIGHT, and reproofs of discipline are the way of life (Amp. Bible). John tells us, In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself (John 1:1, Amp. Bible). Jesus is the personification of the written Word. John further said, In HIM was LIFE, and the LIFE was the LIGHT of men (John 1:4, Amp. Bible). Jesus Christ is the LIFE, and that LIFE (Zoë) was the LIGHT of men. And the LIGHT shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has NEVER OVERPOWERED it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it] (John 1:5, Amp. Bible). What a powerful understanding of Jesus Christ. Jesus is LIFE and His LIFE was the LIGHT for the world. This takes us back to our original scripture in Psalm 119:105, Your word (Jesus is the Word) is a LAMP for my feet, a LIGHT on my path. How are you using the LIGHT? A flashlight is only an instrument to see in the dark; however, if the flashlight stays hidden in a drawer it renders its purpose useless. In order for the Word to do any good in our lives it must be opened, read, understood, and implemented in our lives and world. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a LAMP and put it under a peck measure, BUT on a lampstand, and It GIVE LIGHT TO ALL IN THE HOUSE (Matthew 5:15, Amp. Bible). There are different variations of light and different strengths of light. There are lights for different situations. There are 30, 60, 100, 120, and 3 way bulbs, and Christmas lights. THE PURPOSE FOR THE LIGHT DETERMINES THE BRIGHTNESS AND SIZE OF THE LIGHT. In a world that is in open combat to Christianity, we need the brightest light on our pathway as possible. The Word of God is our ONLY light that provides a clear vision of every step we take in our journey for The Lord. LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE ON YOU PATHWAY. LIGHT UP THE LAMP AND USE IT.
