LIGHT UP OUR WORLD COMPETITIONS Charters Towers Regional Council is again conducting its Christmas Lights Competition. A variety of prizes will be awarded for the best residential house within Charters Towers and a similar prize for the best residential house within regional townships. There are a number of categories for Charters Towers only. These include: best nativity scene, best street (three or more houses in one street); best business window/premises sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Entries close at 4pm on Friday, 6 December 2013. Judging will take place from 7pm-9pm on Monday, 9 December to Wednesday, 11 December. A community bus tour will be provided by 60 and Better on 9, 10 and 11 December. The bus will leave from Wheeler House at 7pm sharp. Cost $3 per person. Bookings can be made by phoning 4787 4286. There is also a childrens colouring in competition. Categories are: ages 6 and under; ages 7-10; ages 11-13. Winners of both competitions will be announced at Gold City Lions Christmas Fair on Thursday, 12 December, centre stage at 7pm. Entry forms can be obtained from City Hall or downloaded from the Council website.
