LITHUANIAN URGING RUSSIA TO ALLOW VISA FREE REGIME IN KALININGRAD REGION WHICH IS NEAR TO BORDER TOWN TAURAGE AND DEPUTY SPEAKER SAY WILL HELP BUSINESSES TO FLOURISH ON BOTH SIDES 27TH JANUARY 2014 Lithuanian Deputy Parliament Speaker Kestas Komskis has urged renewed talks over a visa-free regime with Russias Kaliningrad region. The deputy parliament speaker turned to Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius with request to assess all the possibilities for resuming negotiations and signing bilateral agreement with Russia. Komskis says a visa free regime would allow businesses on both sides to flourish. She said: Such growth only proves once again that not only majority of business agreements are related to Kaliningrad region, but also provision of services is related with this region. Businessmen expect that the region would recover once the visa-free regime is introduced, everyone would feel it separately, since the larger number of Kaliningrads residents would come to Lithuania, the more various agreements and service could be developed. She added: Negotiations should be held not only with Belarus, but also with Kaliningrad region. The deputy highlighted the example of Lithuanian town Taurage. Last year, 33 new companies were registered in the sector. There are currently 200 companies operating in this region. The particularity of this region is determined by the fact that it borders with Kaliningrad region.
