LIVE LIFE DON’T GET OBSESSED WITH MARKS Month of June- July - TopicsExpress

LIVE LIFE DON’T GET OBSESSED WITH MARKS Month of June- July means time for various examination results. I being a teacher too was called by the principal for result analysis. I saw two teachers congratulating each other and Peon was distributing sweets among us all. Mrs. Sharma was happy as her daughter secured 93% in class XII and Mrs. Gupta was happy too as her son secured 10 C.G.P.A.. One of our teachers Mr. Rastogi was quiet and was trying to avoid questions, disappearing again and again. Finally, I put my arm around him, “Yes, my daughter passed the board exam but i don’t remember her percentage”, he said no one believed. He removed my arm and left. Why should we be happy or sad over the results of the students? It‘s good that all children worked hard and get good marks but that doesn’t mean the one who had scored less should be punished or looked down upon. The feeling of shame and guilty frustration in child and parents for being labelled as less marks scorer sometimes leads to suicide or a low morale. Why do we see a student differently when he has scored more than 90% and on the other hand one who has less marks just because the first one would get admission in reputable colleges. Indeed, the second one has several choices. He may be good at pointing music, arts, dance and can be successful, happy and contended by pursuing these careers so this child along with his parents too be congratulated. The secret of good life is to be happy and satisfied. Say a student scoring 95% latter in life will be so busy in becoming rich that he want have time for his family, social commitments, introspection and then one day he would announce that “I have no time you (for parents) and leave abroad for better prospects. Here on other hand a less scorer would remain less egoistic, more polite, more interested in life, not disregarding the sacrifice of his parents. So celebrate even if the child has scored less. Celebrate because he is healthy, happy and respect elders.
