LIVE UPDATES: Rally against Washington team name in Minneapolis MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The protest against the Washington Redskins name is underway in Minneapolis. Members of Congress, Native American leaders and representatives from the University of Minnesota are all taking a stand against the name, with a nearly 4-hour rally Sunday to have the team and mascot name retired from the NFL. Events started at 8:30 a.m. on Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis – the American Indian Cultural Corridor. Protesters will march to Northrop Plaza for a brief ceremony, then head to TCF Bank Stadium for a rally before the Vikings-Redskins game.
