LLND “Live Like Nick Did” One of my heroes and inspirations for doing the Ironman to raise money for childhood cancer research is Nick Franca from Clifton, Virginia. A month after Tristin was diagnosed, I reached out online to find out about other teenagers out there because I knew it was very rare for older kids to get NB. Someone told me about Nick’s CB site caringbridge.org/visit/francafamily Nick was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2005 at the age of 15. I started following his page and reading his mothers Caryn Franca updates. She shared her son’s journey with us weekly and I was just in awe of this amazing and courageous young man! He never let cancer stand in the way of living his life to the fullest. He was a true inspiration and a great role model and big brother to the younger kids at the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House of NY. Nicholas Toms Franca earned his angel wings in May of 2011…… LLND “Live Like Nick Did” I am deeply humbled and honored to Nick’s family for signing my helmet.
