LLORENTE TO ARSENAL (AGAIN) Two weeks after the Daily Mirrors Arsenal fanboy John Cross told us that Arsenal were targeting Fernando Llorente on loan, he is back to inform us that the Gunners are edging closer to signing the Spanish striker on loan from Juventus. And apparently hes keen as its a World Cup year and he would quite like to be there, thank you. Arsenal scouted Llorente before he joined Juve on a free last summer from Spains Athletic Bilbao. They have now been alerted to his potential availability, says the report, which also bizarrely mentions Borussia Dortmunds Robert Lewandowski. Luis Suarez is a target but it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will let the Uruguayan leave in January. Anyway, Nicklas Bendtner could come good before then. COSTA FOR CHELSEA? John Cross is in top scooping mode this Wednesday morning as he claims that Chelsea are very, very interested in Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, who was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer. Jose Mourinho wants a big-name striker in January, apparently and is making sideways glances towards Madrid and Costa, who has already scored ten goals in La Liga this season. But there is a catch. Atletico apparently want £35m for Costa and Chelsea are unlikely to go to that figure, so Crossy concludes that they might not sign him after all. Which makes the whole thing a little bit pointless. BENTEKE TO COST BIG MONEY If the gossip is to be believed, there will be an awful lot of money spent on strikers this January, with the Daily Star claiming that Tottenham are plotting a stunning £28m January move for Christian Benteke. They failed to get him for £20m in the summer and will return with even more cash in January after a start to the season in which they have struggled to break teams down. It says here that Liverpool are also keen while Arsenal are also monitoring the situation but they have some concerns about him fiting into their style of play. Which is presumably why they might be going for Llorente instead.
