LNP Axes Nine Officers For Theft The Administration of the Liberia National Police has with immediate effect dismissed nine of its officers for conniving with two suspected criminals to rob a Liberian Business woman at the New Georgia Junction in Gardnerville. Madam Mary Kolubah, Proprietress of the New Creation Entertainment Center located at the New Georgia Junction in Gardnerville, reported that two of her boxers ( Yaya Kailer and Mohammed Kamara) stole from her entertainment center the amount of Three Hundred and Fifty Nine Thousand Liberian Dollars ( 359.000.00) and Four Hundred United States Dollars ( 400.00) and absconded. The suspects were later arrested while chartering a vehicle in the Red Light area for Bong County by three officers, but the officers later released the suspects and share the money found with them. A Police statement release in Monrovia over the weekend described the dismissed officer’s action as unfortunate and will not be encouraged in the Liberia National Police. The police further stated that such action on the part of those involved with repeated police misconduct are not sanctioned by the police authority and promised that all necessary actions are being taken to raid the force of elements that are in the constant habit of creating image problem for the Liberia National Police. The Spokesperson of the Liberia National police, Sam Collins, named the nine dismissed officers as ;Inspector Benjamin Duncan (Zone 8 Base), Sgt. Augustine Sirweyee (( Zone 5 Depot 1) Leo Lincoln ((Zone 5/ D1), Prince Sendolo ( ZONE 5/ D1). Others are George Garnett ( ZONE 5/ D1), Emmanuel Massaquoi ( Zone 5/ D1), Victor Kardual ( Zone 8/ D2 ) and Alvin Quoigoah (Zone 5/ D1). The Nine dismissed officers are currently undergoing criminal investigation at the Crime Services Division of the Liberia National Police after which they will be charged and sent to court for prosecution. The dismissed officers have been mandated to turn over all Government of Liberia properties in their respective possession. According to Mr. Collins, the action of the dismissed officers breached Section 15.51 of the Panel Law of Liberia under the captioned “Theft of Property” and Chapter iii Section 2 (2) of the New Police Duty Manual under the captioned “Prohibited Conduct”. The police Bulletin under the signature of the Chief of Personnel Deputy Commissioner of Police William Mulubah warned the dismissed officers not to function in the capacity as police officers to avoid future embarrassment At the same time, the Inspector General of Police, Clearance Massaquoi has renewed calls that his administration will not hesitate to deal with any officers of the Liberia National Police that will undermine the creditability of the police force. The LNP Boss said with the eminent drawdown of the United Nations Mission in Liberia the security of the Liberian people will be squarely in the hands of the LNP, and as such he was not prepared to encourage any form of police misconduct. He again encouraged all commanders and Supervisors to step up their supervisory role and reprimand any of their men that will go contrary to the ethics of good policing or face his wrath.
